Treatment for Depression
Have you been feeling down lately? Depressed? Are you lonely, sad, or simply unhappy? Are you distressed by a particular situation? If so, I can help you.
We live in Florida, which is supposed to be the Sunshine State, but sometimes our lives don't feel very sunny. Depression can take many forms from mild and situational, to long term and chronic. It is an illness that involves your body, your mood, and your thoughts. It can affect the way you eat and sleep, the way you feel about yourself and others, and can interfere with your daily life. Without treatment, depression can last for weeks, months, or even years. With treatment, you can soon be experiencing hope, pleasure, and the joys of life.
Maybe you are experiencing some of these signs of depression:
- Persistent sad, anxious, or empty mood
- Feelings of hopelessness or negativity
- Feelings of guilt or worthlessness
- Fatigue or decreased energy
- Sleeping too little or sleeping too much
- Restlessness or irritability
- Isolating from others
- Not being interested in the things you used to enjoy
Depression can be caused by a particular crisis or situation in your life or, or a life transition. Research also indicates that there is a genetic element to depression and that there may not be a particular trigger to cause the depressive feelings. The fact is, living with depression is hard, but it is possible to get through it by talking with someone who understands how you feel and why you feel the way you do.
When treating your depression, we will first create some very clear, concrete goals that you would like to achieve. Then we will devise a plan that will move you towards your goals effectively and efficiently. During our sessions we will review your accomplishments and set new goals. Regular meetings and accountability will be key to your success. I will teach you the tools and skills you need to move past the depression so you can move forward to create the fulfilling life you dream of.
